The 10-MW solar park being built in northeast Uganda by Dubai-based Access Power and France’s Eren Renewable Energy (Eren RE) is expected to begin feeding power to the grid later this month, the Daily Monitor said on Thursday.

The two companies’ joint venture, Access Uganda Solar Ltd, is currently working on the transmission line that connects the facility to the substation.

Upon completion, the solar farm in Soroti District will be selling its generated power to the Uganda Electricity Transmission Company Ltd at a price of UGX 372 (USD 0.11/EUR 0.10) per kWh. The CEO of the Electricity Regulatory Authority, Benon Mutambi, said as cited by the newspaper that this solar tariff is low compared to those in other countries.
