Renewables raise share in Chile's power mix to 36.7% in July
Sep 02, 2024 15:05 CESTJun 27, 2013 - Acciona Energia, part of Spanish infrastructure and renewable energy firm Acciona (MCE:ANA), will design and build a 45 MW wind farm in Chile, the parent said in a press release yesterday.
The construction of the Punta Palmeras facility has been awarded by Chilean electric power company Colbun.
The electricity, to be generated by the Punta Palmeras wind farm, is estimated at 124 GWh per year. It will be supplied to Colbun through a 12-year power purchase agreement (PPA) which could be extended by another five years.
The wind farm will be able to cover the electricity consumption of around 60,000 Chilean households and avoid the emission of 119,000 tonnes of CO2 from conventional coal-fired power stations a year.
The construction works are scheduled to start in the last quarter of 2013 and to be completed by December 2014.
