Spanish renewables company Acciona Energia (BME:ANE) said on Monday that it is developing a 63.35-MW solar project, called Pedro Corto, in the Dominican Republic with a local partner.

Acciona Energia will hold a 51% stake in the project, while the partner, Dominican diversified conglomerate Grupo Pais, will own the remaining 49% stake.

The Pedro Corto plant will be located in the province of San Juan de la Maguana. The project is supported by a 15-year power purchase agreement (PPA) with state-owned distribution company Edesur Dominicana.

Once in operation, the solar farm will be capable of generating 189.07 GWh per year. Acciona Energia expects the plant to be up and running at the end of 2025.

Acciona Energia’s first solar project in the Dominican Republic is the 58-MWp Calabaza I plant, which was commissioned in 2023. The company is currently building the 162-MW Cotoperi solar complex, consisting of three plants. Its partner on Cotoperi is Cotosolar Holding SA, which includes Grupo Pais, Caribbean-based financial group JMMB Sustainable Energy Fund and other minority investors, the Spanish company added.
