Nordex bags 100-MW turbine supply deal for Canadian project
Nov 12, 2024 10:27 CESTThe 280-MW Forty Mile wind farm in the Canadian province of Alberta has started feeding electricity into the grid, the project owner announced on Wednesday.
Spanish renewables pure-player Acciona Energia (BME:ANE), which acquired the Forty Mile project last year, said that the wind farm is on track to be completed in the first quarter of 2025.
Located 50 kilometres (31.1 miles) southwest of Medicine Hat, the wind farm will consist of 49 Nordex turbines, making it one of the largest in Canada and the largest Acciona Energia has built in North America. So far, the first nine turbines have been commissioned and connected to the grid. The remaining machines will be gradually connected over the next few months as they get erected and powered up.
Once finished, Forty Mile will be Acciona Energia’s fifth wind farm in Canada, bringing the company's total installed capacity in North America to over 3 GW.
