Spanish construction group Acciona SA (BME:ANA) and Saudi financial services group Swicorp will build a 75-MW wind farm in Tataouine governorate, southern Tunisia, TAP news agency reported on Friday.

According to the report, the companies last week inked a technical and financial offer and a lease commitment for the construction of the wind power plant in Chenini.

The facility, worth an estimated about TND 500 million (USD 165m/EUR 150m), will consist of 14 turbines of 6 MW each. Building works are expected to kick off at the end of 2025 and last 18 months.

Under the plans, the wind farm’s output will be bought by the Tunisian Electricity and Gas Company (STEG) under the supervision of the Ministry of Energy and Mines.

At the start of January, Tunisia’s energy minister Naila Nouira said that the government planned 1,700 MW of new renewable energy projects that should be implemented between 2023 and 2025.
