Acciona Windpower sees better revenues after merger with Nordex - report

Acciona Windpower expects to generate additional revenues of some EUR 95 million (USD 107.8m) after the merger with German Nordex SE (ETR:NDX1) and to strengthen its business in Mexico, business daily El Financiero said Tuesday, citing Jose Luis Blanco, managing director of Acciona Windpower.

At the beginning of the month Nordex announced that it would take over the wind turbine production arm of Spanish group Acciona SA (BME:ANA) in a cash-and-stock deal worth some EUR 785 million.

In an interview with El Financiero Blanco said that Acciona Windpower sees an opportunity to strengthen its business in Mexico by combining its capacity and leading position in the country with Nordex´ technological knowledge.

The wind power business in Mexico is very fragmented, and this means that Acciona Windpower has big opportunities in the national market and with Nordex this could be strengthened with better technologies, the executive explained.

Acciona Windpower has a strong presence in Mexico, with contracts for nearly 1,000 MW, of which 56% is already operational, El Financiero said.
