ACWA Power Co (TADAWUL:2082) has installed the first wind turbine for the 500-MW Bash wind farm project, located in the Bukhara region of southwestern Uzbekistan.

With a capacity of 6.5 MW, the wind turbine delivered by Chinese manufacturer Envision is the largest of its kind in Central Asia, the Saudi developer of the project said on Tuesday.

The machine was deployed by China Energy Engineering Corporation (CEEC). The EPC contractor is responsible for the construction of the Bash wind park as well as for ACWA Power's 500-MW Dzhankeldy wind project, located in the Peshku district of Bukhara region.

Scheduled for completion in the first quarter of 2025, the Bash wind farm is set to encompass 79 wind turbines, projecting an annual electricity production of over 1,650 GWh. This is estimated to reduce carbon dioxide emissions by about 750 tonnes per year.

ACWA Power has secured a 25-year power purchase agreement (PPA) with the JSC National Electric Grid of Uzbekistan for the output of the wind farm.

The Riyadh-based company has a portfolio of ten projects across Uzbekistan, collectively representing an investment worth USD 7.5 billion (EUR 6.82bn).
