Iberdrola inaugurates 496-MW Saint-Brieuc wind farm offshore France
Sep 19, 2024 16:25 CESTThe Asian Development Bank (ADB) is considering lending some USD 20 million (EUR 18.6m) for the construction of a large-scale solar power facility in Nepal with a capacity of around 50 MW.
According to a number of media reports, the bank and the government of Nepal have been discussing the matter. Meanwhile, on Wednesday the head of the Finance Ministry’s International Economic Cooperation Coordination Division, Madhu Marasini, confirmed in a tweet that the ADB was mobilising aid for the project.
The plan is to build a solar park that will be hooked to the national grid. At present, Nepal has a few solar farms that are not connected and just 450 kW of systems that feed electricity into the local grid.
Late last year, the World Bank announced it will extend a 38-year loan of USD 130 million to finance a 25-MWp solar project in Nepal and grid upgrades aimed at reducing electricity distribution losses in the country. According to the reports, however, the solar scheme has been delayed.
