ADB to back Solomon Islands' green energy, infrastructure growth

Mar 16, 2012 - The Asian Development Bank (ADB) said Wednesday it would back Solomon Islands in its efforts to lower poverty and promote inclusive growth via various infrastructure projects including renewable energy development.

Under the Country Partnership Strategy, ADB's first five-year partnership strategy with Solomon Islands, the lender will provide to the country some USD 38 million (EUR 29m) in the form of concessional loans between 2012 and 2016 plus USD 1 million in annual technical assistance. The funds are intended to support improvements in transport, information and communications technology (ICT), renewable energy and public sector management.
