Queensland Hydro picks contractors for 2-GW pumped storage project
Sep 18, 2024 6:05 CESTAdvisian said today it has won the role of Owner’s Engineer for a 700-MW concentrated solar power (CSP) portion of the Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum Solar Park in Dubai.
The company, which is a consultancy owned by Australian professional services provider WorleyParsons Ltd (ASX:WOR), won the contract from Noor Energy 1, the joint venture between ACWA Power and the Dubai Electricity and Water Authority (DEWA) that is developing the project.
Advisian will work on the fourth phase of the 5-GW solar complex, which is designed to use both photovoltaic (PV) and CSP technology. The 700-MW CSP site will include a 100-MW Central Tower plant with a height of 260 metres, and three 200-MW parabolic trough facilities. The job includes reviewing the basic and detailed engineering, managing technology risk and providing technical support as required for the Factory Acceptance Tests during the construction and commissioning processes.
ACWA Power and DEWA are developing the project under a 35-year Power Purchase Agreement (PPA). They have appointed Shanghai Electric as the engineering, procurement and construction (EPC) contractor and NOMAC is the operations and maintenance (O&M) operator.
