Iberdrola inaugurates 496-MW Saint-Brieuc wind farm offshore France
Sep 19, 2024 16:25 CESTAES El Salvador and Central-American company Corporacion Multi Inversiones (CMI) have completed a 100-MW photovoltaic (PV) project in El Salvador.
Named Bosforo, the project consists of ten 10-MW solar farms built at a total cost of USD 160 million (EUR 143.45m), CMI said on Wednesday.
With 44,000 solar panels per plant, Bosforo is expected to generate enough power to meet the annual demand of 33,000 local homes and offset a total of 175,000 tonnes of carbon dioxide (CO2) emissions annually, according the local unit of AES Corporation (NYSE:AES).
The ten parks are located in five different departments -- La Union, Santa Ana, Sonsonate, Usulutan and San Salvador. This will help El Salvador reduce its energy losses and improve the stability and reliability of the national electricity system, as the power farms will be closer to the consumption points, CMI Capital CEO, Enrique Crespo, pointed out.
