Axpo to assess feasibility of alpine wind farm project
Sep 02, 2024 14:56 CESTSwiss energy company AEW Energie AG said on Friday that it is acquiring the local subsidiary of German renewable energy group Vento Ludens, expanding its wind energy capabilities through the deal.
The business, Vento Ludens Suisse GmbH, is focused on the planning, financing, and construction of renewable energy facilities, primarily wind parks. It is involved in wind projects in Homberg, Burg, Bavois, and Essertines-sur-Rolle in Switzerland.
Through the deal, AEW becomes the majority shareholder of the Burg wind farm in the Aargau canton, adding a 30% stake to its existing 25%.
The acquisition also gives AEW access to potentially 40 GWh of wind power generation capacity. Two-thirds of the energy is produced during the winter months, providing electricity to around 9,000 average households.
Following the acquisition, Vento Ludens Suisse GmbH will continue to operate as an independent company and all its employees will be retained.
Financial details of the deal were not disclosed.
