Sep 20, 2024 6:04 CESTIndian firm Dynasty Oil & Gas has broken ground on a 10-MW solar power generating facility near the city of Kandahar in Afghanistan, it was announced on Sunday.
Dynasty Oil & Gas won the project in a reverse auction held by national utility Da Afghanistan Breshna Sherkat (DABS) on July 16, 2016. The Indian company will be selling the power generated by the plant to DAWS under a 15-year contract at a price of USD 0.073 per kWh.
The project will require a total investment of some USD 19 million (EUR 16m), of which about USD 10 million will be provided by the US Agency for International Development (USAID).
The solar park is expected to become operational by August 26, 2018.
