Swedish clean energy-tech company Aira is launching in the UK and plans to invest GBP 300 million (USD 377m/EUR 346m) in the country in the next three years to help it replace home gas boilers with heat pumps.

Aira, which recently announced a launch in Italy, aims to serve five million households in Europe, including one million in Britain, with clean energy solutions. Its offering includes intelligent heat pumps, solar panels, battery storage and electricity tariffs.

In the UK, the company has the ambition to hire 8,000 people over the next decade and to set up a series of Aira training academies. Its investment in the country was announced as part of the UK’s Global Investment Summit on Monday, which the government said, attracted GBP 29.5 billion in new UK projects and capital commitments.

Aira has this year acquired Sheffield-based renewable energy specialist All Seasons Energy and now has a team of 200 employees in the UK.

Set up by Vargas Holding, Aira is backed by climate and innovation investors including Altor, Collaborative Fund, Creades, Kinnevik, and Lingotto.
