Abdul Latif Jameel revives sale of FRV - report
Nov 12, 2024 17:03 CESTThe Albanian government has given the green light to two projects put forward by local companies and envisaging the construction of solar photovoltaic (PV) parks with a combined capacity exceeding 100 MW.
The positive decision for the two schemes was announced by the Council of Ministers on Thursday.
The larger plan calls for the installation of a 100-MW solar farm in the Fier region of southwestern Albania by renewable energy producer Sunny Side Energy, which was set up in 2023 by Albania-based construction-to-oil conglomerate Kastrati Group.
To be located in the village of Darzeze, within the Dermenas administrative unit, the PV farm is planned to be operated for 49 years. It is anticipated to start generating green power within 36 months of the permit issuance. According to the official statement, the project will be funded privately and will not use any state subsidies, while the proposed investment amount was not specified.
The government has also approved the construction of a 8.3-MW solar park by state-owned energy group KESH at the site of the Vau i Dejes hydropower plant (HPP). The facility, due to be commissioned in 36 months, is expected to produce 11,213 MWh of electricity annually.
