TIRANA (Albania), September 18 (SeeNews) – Albania-based Natural Energy System has applied for a building permit for a photovoltaic park in the area of Seman, near the southwestern city of Fier, the country's energy ministry said.

The PV park is expected have an installed capacity of up to 3 MW, the ministry said in a document published on its website on Wednesday.

The ministry provided no details about the estimated cost and implementation timetable of the project.

In late July, Albania's government signed a contract for the construction and operation of a 140 MW photovoltaic park in Karavasta coastal area in the region of Fier with French renewables company Voltalia.

Albania produces over 90% of its electricity from HPPs, most of it from three power stations along the Drin river, in the northern part of the country.
