Iberdrola inaugurates 496-MW Saint-Brieuc wind farm offshore France
Sep 19, 2024 16:25 CESTFrench renewable energy producer Albioma SA (EPA:ABIO) said today it has commissioned a solar-plus-storage system at a sports stadium on Reunion island in the Indian Ocean.
The system consists of a 1.25-MWp solar photovoltaic (PV) facility with battery storage capacity of 1.33 MWh. The commissioning at the Stade de l’Est Jean Ivoula stadium in the municipality of Saint-Denis took place on March 13, 2020, Albioma said.
The central unit was installed on the stadium’s roof and in the bleachers. The plant’s total output is estimated at 1.7 GWh per year, or enough to meet the annual consumption needs of 600 local households. Electricity will be injected directly into the Reunion grid.
Albioma was awarded the stadium project in the 2016 call for tenders launched by France's Energy Regulatory Commission (CRE) for the construction and operation of PV plants with storage in non-interconnected areas. The project had to have an innovation component in order to be selected, the company added.
