United Arab Emirates-based Alcazar Energy today said the 45-MW Shobak wind farm in Jordan is now operational.

Alcazar Energy partnered on the project with Hecate Energy. The wind park, located near the village of Al Shobak, generates enough power to supply more than 30,000 households a year and save more than 75,000 tonnes of carbon dioxide (CO2) annually.

The wind park consists of 13 wind turbines of the V136-3.45-MW model provided by Danish wind turbine maker Vestas (CPH:VWS).

The European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD), the Islamic Corporation for the Development of the Private Sector (ICD) and the Europe Arab Bank provided funding for the project.

This is the seventh operational asset in Alcazar Energy's Middle East, Africa and Turkey portfolio of wind and solar projects and the third one in Jordan.
