Astronergy secures 1 GW of solar module orders in Algeria
Sep 03, 2024 14:46 CESTFour pilot projects for the production of green hydrogen are expected to be launched in Algeria before the end of 2024, an official at the Ministry of Energy and Mines said on Monday.
Speaking to state-owned news agency Algeria Press Service, Miloud Medjelled, head of the research department at the ministry, said that these projects are being studied in partnership with universities and research centres.

One or two of these projects will be launched by the end of 2023, while the remaining initiatives will follow in 2024, Medjelled added on the sidelines of the ERA Exhibition in Oran on Algeria's northwestern coast.
Three of these projects are being developed by state-owned energy company Sonatrach, while the fourth project is expected to be realised in collaboration with German partners.
Medjelled pointed out that Sonatrach's goal with these projects is to introduce the use of green hydrogen in gas turbines, as well as to test hydrogen transport by pipeline as Algeria aims to export the green molecule to Europe.
