EU allocates EUR 4.8bn among 85 innovative net-zero projects
Oct 23, 2024 14:36 CEST(ADPnews) - Nov 1, 2010 - Around 1.4 million Austrian households, or some 45% of Austria's citizens, use wood as a source of heat, according to the country's statistical office, Statistik Austria.
Austria generates more than 50% of its renewable energy from wood, Gerhard Wlodkowski, president of the Austrian Chamber of Agriculture, said recently. For comparison, more than 60% of the renewable energy in the whole EU is generated from wood, he added.
Furthermore, wood is widely used as feedstock in biomass co-generation plants across Austria, Wlodkowski said.
