Swiss power company Alpiq has signed a multi-year deal to supply solar electricity to French building materials maker Compagnie de Saint-Gobain SA (EPA:SGO).

The 14-year power purchase agreement (PPA) envisages the supply of 500 GWh of renewable power over the contracted period.

The electricity will be sourced from two solar farms located in the department of Moselle. The agreed amount will be enough to cover the power consumption of 11 Saint-Gobain plants in France.

The PPA with Alpiq is the third one signed by Saint-Gobain at home. These agreements are expected to reduce the company's Scope 2 emissions in the country by nearly 10% in 2024 compared to 2017 levels, the French from noted in a statement published today.
