UK-based firm Abnormal Load Services (ALS) and NorSea Group, the Norwegian service supplier to the oil and gas industry, have set up Elevon, a joint venture (JV) that will provide logistics services to the wind power industry.

In the new entity, the two companies will bring together their expertise in large and complex project logistics and offshore supply logistics, they announced on Tuesday. The JV will also rely on the global networks of its founders' owners, Wallenius Wilhelmsen behind ALS, and Norway-based shipping company Wilh Wilhelmsen Holding ASA, which owns Norsea and has a stake in Wallenius Wilhelmsen.

Elevon will offer project advisory services, logistics management and solutions, and technical services to the wind sector. The venture targets key markets in Europe, the US and Asia. Knut Magne Johannessen from Norsea will act as CEO.

"The pure-play strategy allows Elevon to anticipate and respond quicker to client needs, attract industry-specific talent, go ‘all-in’ in tailoring operations for wind project delivery, and make very specific investments to support clients in the wind industry," Johannessen commented.
