Estonian renewable energy producer Sunly said today it has contracted Alseva group, the Polish solar developer that it acquired last year, to build Sunly’s first solar park in Latvia.

The project is designed with a capacity of 10.8 MW and is located in Barkava, Madona municipality. Construction is slated to start later this year, with commissioning expected in early 2024.

Sunly said the contract is noteworthy as it marks the first project outside of Poland for Alseva, which has been active in its home market for almost 10 years.

Sunly’s acquisition of Alseva group saw the latter’s previous owners take a shareholding in Sunly. The Estonian company, which is developing solar as well as wind projects in the Baltics and Poland, raised EUR 200 million (USD 220m) in October 2022.
