Iberdrola inaugurates 496-MW Saint-Brieuc wind farm offshore France
Sep 19, 2024 16:25 CESTApr 10, 2012 - French engineering group Alstom (EPA:ALO) said it will install two turbine-manufacturing factories in Cherbourg and Saint-Nazaire, northwestern France, for the implementation of a major wind power project.
Alstom is a partner in a consortium led by French electricity group EDF (EPA:EDF), which on Friday won the tender for three wind power farms offshore Brittany and Normany.
The consortium has to build three wind farms offshore Saint-Nazaire, Courseulles-sur-Mer and Fecamp, which will involve the production of a total of 240 turbines.
The projects will lead to the opening of 2,000 jobs in Lower Normandy. Recruitments at the two plants will start in 2013. Production is due to start in 2014.
Alstom is seen to receive EUR 2 billion (USD 2.6bn) from the projects.
