Near the end of January, the company won a CAD-1.45-million deal to install a geoexchange facility for the cooling of the ice rink at the entertainment and sports centre. As part of the expanded agreement, the company's geoexchange technology will now provide the building heating and cooling.
In general, Alter NRG's geoexchange solutions cater for heating and air conditioning through the use of geothermal energy. The facilities can scale down the use of fossil fuels by as much as 80%, according to Alter NRG estimates.
