Amberside picks Black & Veatch to help develop 2 GW of UK solar

Privately owned developer Amberside Energy has selected Black & Veatch to take the lead role in the development of an initial 2-GW solar and battery storage portfolio in the UK.

Black & Veatch announced this on Monday, saying that it will be providing technical advisory and support services for Amberside’s projects. It will plan and design both the solar and storage systems as well as the electricity distribution and transmission assets. Furthermore, it will manage interfaces with National Grid and distribution network operators, the announcement says.

Covered by a framework agreement, the projects will involve the development of solar photovoltaic (PV), standalone battery, and co-located solar PV and battery sites across Great Britain. They will range in size from 20 MW to 100 MW. No further details were given.
