Dubai-based renewables developer and operator AMEA Power announced today that it has brought online a 26.6-MW solar farm located in the Mouhoun Province in Burkina Faso.

The facility, built in the village of Zina, will produce enough clean electricity to meet the annual needs of more than 43,000 people while eliminating 13,200 tonnes of carbon dioxide emissions per year, the company said in a social media post.

The project was financed by the International Finance Corporation (IFC), the IFC-Canada Climate Change Program and the Emerging Africa Infrastructure Fund.

Founded in 2016, AMEA Power has more than 1.6 GW in operation and under/near construction and a project pipeline of more than 6 GW across 20 countries.
