The consortium formed by TBEA Xinjiang New Energy Co Ltd and Dubai-based AMEA Power has won a 100-MW solar project in Tunisia after participating in an international tender.

The duo will build the solar power plant at a site in Kairouan and, upon completion, will sell its generated electricity under a 20-year power purchase agreement (PPA) with the Societe Tunisienne de l’Electricite et du Gaz (STEG).

AMEA Power noted that in this particular solar tender, the Ministry of Industry and SMEs of Tunisia awarded a total of 500 MW to various bidders. A couple of days earlier, Oslo-based Scatec Solar ASA (OSL:SSO) unveiled it has won three projects totalling 360 MW in the competitive bidding process.

Earlier this month, AMEA Power also announced the signing of PPAs with the Egyptian Electricity Transmission Company (EETC) for a 200-MW solar project and a 500-MW wind project in Egypt. The firm also has developments in Togo, Chad and Jordan.
