Austrian technology group Andritz AG (VIE:ANDR) said today it has secured an order from Toyo Engineering Corporation (TYO:6330) to deliver a fluidised bed boiler for a 50-MW biomass power plant in Japan.

A PowerFluid Circulating Fluidised Bed boiler with flue gas cleaning system will be supplied for a facility that is to be built for Obayashi Kamisu Biomass Power Generation Corporation in Kamisu, Ibaraki prefecture.

The biomass power plant, scheduled to become operational in 2021, will use wood pellets as primary fuel. The electricity it produces in a year will be enough to power about 110,000 households.

The Kamisu project will be the second in Japan that uses the specific fluidised bed boiler by Andritz.
