Another blade failure was reported on Thursday morning at the 1.2-GW Dogger Bank A wind project currently under construction off the coast of North East England.

No injuries have been reported. The surrounding marine zone has been restricted, with relevant authorities promptly informed.

Further details were not provided.

“We are working closely with the turbine manufacturer, GE Vernova Inc, which has initiated an investigation into the cause of the incident,” a notice on the project’s website said.

Dogger Bank A is the first phase of the 3.6-GW Dogger Bank Wind Farm, which is a joint venture between SSE Renewables and Equinor. Earlier this year, the developers confirmed a delay in the construction work due to bad weather, poor installation vessel availability and supply chain issues.

Back in May, a single blade on an already installed turbine at the project site was reported to have sustained damage. GE Vernova explained the event with an installation error.

At the same time, in July, GE Vernova announced it would carry out an extensive inspection across its offshore wind manufacturing operations after experiencing a material deviation at one of its factories in Canada that could have caused recent blade damage in the US.
