China-based PV mounting system solutions maker Antaisolar and Saudi Arabia's Bahra Electric have agreed to form a joint venture (JV) to produce solar trackers and mounting solutions in the Kingdom.

The new company and the factory will be based in Jeddah, a port city on the Red Sea, Antaisolar announced in a social media post.

Leveraging Bahra's extensive presence and its 500,000 sq. metre facility in Jeddah, the joint factory targets an annual production capacity of 8 GW by 2025, increasing to 15 GW by 2026 and 24 GW by 2027.

With the move, Antaisolar aims to expand into the Middle East and position the new factory as a critical manufacturing and service hub for the region.

"This new company will focus on maximizing local content and tackle utility-scale project challenges from design, manufacturing to logistics and maintenance," Antaisolar said.

Solar energy is booming in Saudi Arabia as Riyadh-based developer ACWA Power is advancing several large-scale projects. The company has just signed three power purchase agreements (PPA) for 5.5 GW of new solar projects. Earlier this year, it secured financing for three other solar projects of a combined 4.5 GW.
