US technology giant Apple Inc (NASDAQ:AAPL) on Wednesday said that its supply chain now supports 13.7 GW of operational renewable energy capacity around the world.

This is an increase of almost 30% in the past year and a five-times rise since 2019.

Over 250 Apple suppliers active in 28 countries are now committed to using 100% renewable energy for Apple production by 2030. This accounts for over 85% of the company’s direct manufacturing spend.

Apple is already carbon neutral for its own operations and has a target of becoming carbon neutral for every product by 2030.

The company supports about 1.5 GW of renewable generation globally to supply its corporate offices, data centres and retail stores. It has also invested in almost 500 MW of solar and wind in China and Japan to tackle upstream supply chain emissions.
