Iberdrola inaugurates 496-MW Saint-Brieuc wind farm offshore France
Sep 19, 2024 16:25 CESTJan 10, 2011 - French energy engineering groups Areva (EPA:AREVA) and Technip (EPA:TEC) will take part in a consortium, led by Spanish utility Iberdrola and British RES to bid for offshore wind projects in France, business daily Les Echos reported today.
The consortium should submit its tender offer today, the newspaper said, reminding that the deadline of the call for tenders is tomorrow.
The Franco-Spanish consortium will compete with two other major alliances, one of which led by French electricity group EDF (EPA:EDF), and the other -- by rival GDF Suez (EPA:GSZ).
The three consortia will compete for the development of five wind farms off the coast of Normandy and Brittany, in the English Channel and the Atlantic, Saint-Brieuc and Saint-Nazaire, respectively.
If the consortium of Iberdrola and RES wins, it will create dedicated operating companies, 70% owned by Iberdrola and 30% -- by RES, Les Echos reported. The consortium plans to create about 1,000 direct and 4,000 indirect jobs.
