Argentina exports 102,255 tonnes of biodiesel in May

(ADPnews) - Jun 2, 2010 - Argentina's biodiesel exports stood at 102,255 tonnes in May 2010, compared to 99,891 tonnes in the same month last year, according to customs data.
The export price averaged USD 858 (EUR 702.5) per tonne last month, down 1.3% from April 2010.
In May, the Netherlands was the main destination for the biodiesel shipments with 48.3% of the total, while 30.1% went to Spain, 16.6% to Italy and 4.9% to Peru.
Argentina's compulsory diesel blend with 5% biodiesel, which was put on practice in the last two months, slowed down the growth of the biodiesel exports.
The exports stood at 400,618 tonnes in the first three months of 2010, up 78% year-on-year, and at 203,255 tonnes in April and May, down 2.5%.
Argentina has the capacity to produce 2.4 million tonnes of biodiesel a year.
