Argentine power company Genneia announced on Monday that it has entered into a seven-year power purchase agreement (PPA) with compatriot CDV, a laboratory based in Buenos Aires province that makes vaccines and other biologicals for animal health.

Facilitated through Argentina’s MATER green energy marketplace for large electricity consumers, the PPA will enable CDV to meet 80% of its electricity demand with Genneia’s wind and solar power.

Genneia said that it will supply the renewable energy from its assets to cover the needs of CDV’s three veterinary vaccine manufacturing plants located in the Pilar Industrial Park.

Two of these plants are operational and together consume 6,400 MWh of electricity per year. The third plant covered by the PPA is currently under construction and will begin operations during the first half of 2025.

The parties have an option to renew the PPA after seven years.

Genneia reached 1,004 MW of operational wind and solar power capacity early in 2024.
