Argentine Manfrey mulls over biomass use to cut fuel costs - report

Jun 27, 2012 - Argentine dairy cooperative Manfrey mulls over investing USD 1.5 million (EUR 1.2m) in a biomass boiler to reduce fuel costs, chairman Ercole Felippa said, quoted by local daily La Voz del Interior.
Manfrey currently consumes 540 tonnes of fuel oil a month. Biomass is an attractive option amid a 12-year delay in the construction of a gas pipeline that could supply cheaper fuel to Freyre, an area in the Cordoba province where Manfrey operates, Felippa said.
The firm has decided to wait for the pipeline until September 2013. If it decides to install the boiler, the biomass will be supplied from eucalyptus plantations.
