Armenia to raise FiTs for hydro, biomass power from 2013 - report

Nov 28, 2012 - The Public Service Regulatory Commission (PSRC) of Armenia today approved higher feed-in tariff (FiT) rates for the output of hydro and biomass power plants, effective January 1, 2013, Armenian news agency ARKA reported today.

Only the FiT for wind power will be trimmed to AMD 34.957/kWh from AMD 35.339/kWh previously.

The FiTs for hydropower are separated in several categories including a rate of AMD 20.287 (USD 0.050/EUR 0.039) per kWh for power produced from small hydropower plants built on rivers; AMD 13.523/kWh for the output of small hydropower plants built on irrigation canals; and AMD 9.017/kWh for power produced by small hydropower plants on drinking water conduits. The changes also envision a FiT of AMD 38.856/kWh for biomass power, according to ARKA.

Currently, the FiTs are AMD 19.551, AMD 13.033 and AMD 8.69 for the three types of hydropower plants and AMD 37.447 per kWh for biomass, the news agency said citing Garik Bagramyan, head of PSRC division.
