An agreement with the winning bidder in a tender for the construction of a 55-MW solar park in Armenia will be signed before the start of June, ARKA News Agency reported today, citing a government official.

The information has been provided by Hayk Harutyunyan, deputy energy minister, during a meeting dedicated to solar energy development.

The tender was won by Fotowatio Renewable Ventures (FRV), part of Abdul Latif Jameel, and its unit FSL Solar SL, which offered to sell power to the local grid at a price of USD 0.0419 (EUR 0.0340) per kWh.

The 55-MW Masrik-1 solar park, to be constructed near the village of Masrik, Gegharkunik province, will be the nation's first large photovoltaic (PV) complex. Construction is expected to start later this year and be completed by 2020.
