A large-scale solar power plant with a direct current (DC) capacity of 5.2 MW has recently been hooked to the grid in Armenia.

The news was announced by Chinese solar products maker Risen Energy Co Ltd (SHE:300118), which supplied its JAGER PLUS 144 mono PERC bifacial double glass modules for the project.

Developed by Risen’s local partner and exclusive distributor, Optimum Energy LLC, the Vayots Arev-1 solar farm now produces power at its site in the Vayots Dzor region of southeastern Armenia. According to the announcement, it is the nation’s first large-scale project to be connected to the grid.

Risen notes that the local government has been supporting and promoting the renewable energy industry with new policies in recent years in order to cut dependence on external energy.
