Elawan bags Google PPA for 37-MW solar project in Texas
Sep 19, 2024 13:49 CESTHome furnishings manufacturer Ashley Furniture Industries Inc will spend USD 29 million (EUR 26m) this year to deploy solar power systems on selected facilities in the US, the company announced on Wednesday.
Wisconsin-based commercial solar developer SunPeak will install photovoltaic (PV) arrays on ten manufacturing and distribution and fulfillment facilities that consume over 100 million kWh of electricity a year.
The first solar project will take place in Romeoville, Illinois, where a 726-kW DC system will be deployed. Construction work starts this week.
Three locations in California as well as sites in Florida, Mississippi, North Carolina, Pennsylvania, Texas and Ashley’s manufacturing headquarters in Arcadia, Wisconsin, will also go solar.
This is the first phase of a larger initiative, according to the announcement. Ashley expects over USD 5 million in cost savings in the first year.
