World set to install 593 GW of new solar in 2024 - Ember
Sep 19, 2024 13:28 CESTChinese solar-focused developer Asia Clean Capital Ltd (ACC) said Tuesday it will install 14 MW of rooftop photovoltaic (PV) capacity in Hubei province's city of Wuhan.
As part of a development agreement with WISCO Jiangbei Group, ACC will provide the entire financing required for the project. It will be in charge of designing and constructing the rooftop solar system, and will also continue to provide long-term operation and maintenance (O&M) services for it upon completion.
The array will be deployed at the iron and steel major’s WISCO Jiangbei industrial park. China Chang Jiang Energy Corp (CCJEC) has been chosen as the general engineering, procurement and construction (EPC) contractor for the scheme, while Lerri Solar will supply the monocrystalline silicon panels.
The entire solar output will be bought by the China BAOWU Steel Group unit at below-grid rates, in order to ensure operational savings throughout the system’s lifespan, according to the press release. The PV installation is expected to be able to generate enough electricity to offset about 222,675 tonnes of carbon dioxide (CO2) emissions each year, ACC calculates.
Once up and running, the system is touted to become the largest rooftop monocrystalline silicon solar PV project in Central China.
