US renewable bitcoin mining operator Aspen Creek Digital Corporation (ACDC) on Wednesday announced the start of operation of its second solar-powered data centre and turned its attention to the upcoming third project which is even larger.

The company’s second high-performance computing center (HPCC) of 30 MW is located in Texas and is hooked behind-the-meter to a new 87-MW solar farm. Compass Mining has a hosting deal for 27 MW of capacity, to be deployed by the end of the year.

ACDC is now working on its third facility, also located in Texas. It is a 150-MW HPCC that is co-located behind-the-meter with a 200-MW solar power plant and is expected to become operational by mid-2023.

The company’s first bitcoin mining centre launched in June. It is located in west Colorado and amounts to 6 MW. The solar park that supplies it with power has a capacity of 10 MW.

A month ago, ACDC announced an USD-8-million (EUR 8.1m) Series A financing round led by investors Galaxy Digital and Polychain Capital.

“This funding will support our 3GW+ pipeline of wind, solar and battery generation by 2025 and support innovative solutions to build the world’s leading fleet of renewably powered data centers,” CEO Alexandra DaCosta said at the time.
