Colombia's ANLA gets mandate to license renewables starting at 50 MW
Sep 17, 2024 12:44 CESTLatin America-focused Atlas Renewable Energy has signed an agreement to acquire a 201-MWp solar project in Colombia, making its debut in the South American nation's solar market.
Located in the department of Tolima, the Shangri-La solar plant was developed by Rayo Energia and Black Orchid Solar, Atlas announced on Thursday.
Shangri-la should be capable of generating 403.7 GWh of clean energy per year once it commences power generation, which is scheduled for the end of 2025. Its output will be used by an unnamed Colombian company through a power purchase agreement (PPA).
“The recent acquisition of the Shangri-La solar project marks an important milestone in our strategic expansion in the Colombian energy market, contributing 201 MWp to our ambitious 1 GW target,” said Ruben Borja, Country Manager of Atlas Renewable Energy in Colombia.
Atlas has previously entered the national government reliability charge tender with this project, securing an award, the firm noted.
