Australia's Dyesol, Turkey's Nesli DSC to forge DSC technology in Turkey

ISTANBUL (Turkey), January 5 (SeeNews) – Australian photovoltaic (PV) technology company Dyesol said on Monday it has signed an agreement with Turkish-based firm Nesli DSC Ltd for the development and commercialisation of perovskite glass dye solar cell (DSC) technology in Turkey.

The first prototype stage under the agreement envisages the establishment of a prototype factory in Turkey in 2015, Dyesol said in a filing with the Australian stock exchange.

In February 2014, Dyesol announced that its South Korean unit Dyesol-Timo had agreed to supply equipment for $1.9 million (1.6 million euro) to Nesli DSC to set up a prototype factory for glass dye solar cell (DSC). Dyesol has received the activation payment to commence work for this contract, it said on Monday.

With the successful completion of the first stage the two companies will form an equally-owned joint venture firm to implement the commercialisation strategy.

The second stage is planned to start in 2016 with construction of a staged manufacturing facility that is expected to produce volumes of PV product in excess of 20,000 square metres. This stage also envisages product testing, product accreditation and manufacturing process optimisation.

The final stage, mass manufacturing, is expected to begin in 2018 with the annual production of many millions of square metres.

Turkey is considered to be highly favourable for the establishment of a PV manufacturing facility because it has a substantial energy deficit, attractive GDP growth, competitive labour costs and supportive government assistance and energy policies, Dyesol added.
