Nacap to build hydrogen pipeline for AGA’s Aussie green ammonia project
Sep 19, 2024 16:03 CESTHysata has appointed clean energy expert Michael Liebreich to its global advisory council, the Australian electrolyser company said today.
Liebreich, chairman and CEO of Liebreich Associates and founder of BloombergNEF, joins former Australian Chief Scientist Alan Finkel and former UK Climate Change and Energy Minister Claire O’Neill on Hysata’s global advisory council.

The appointment comes as the company moves to its next stage of commercialisation with the opening of its electrolyser manufacturing facility in Australia earlier in August.
Hysata chief executive Paul Barrett described Liebreich as “a green hydrogen realist” who brings decades of expertise across the energy system.
“I have long argued that to achieve Net Zero we have to electrify as much of the global economy as we reasonably can. However, I have also pointed out that there is no route to a net zero economy that doesn’t also pass through clean hydrogen – not least because of the 94 million tonnes per year of fossil-based hydrogen currently responsible for 2.3% of global CO2 emissions,” said Liebreich.
He also highlighted that clean hydrogen will play a key role in the decarbonisation of hard-to-abate sectors such as steel, and most probably in long-duration storage.
“That means in any version of the future multiverse, the market for the world’s cheapest and most efficient electrolysers is going to be enormous,” Liebreich added.
Hysata says its electrolyser will offer the lowest levelised cost of hydrogen (LCOH) for green hydrogen producers thanks to its 95% efficiency in combination with a simplified balance of plant and cost-effective materials.
According to a recent announcement, Hysata has a 9.4-GW pipeline of signed conditional orders and letters of intent.
At present, the company employs about 50 people and plans to expand to a headcount of over 200 over the next couple of years.
