EIB to support construction of 62-MW wind farm in Austria
Sep 11, 2024 16:41 CESTFeb 26, 2013 - Austrian green electricity pioneer ImWind said today it recently commissioned six wind power plants of the E-82 E2 type with a total capacity of 13.8 MW in Grosshofen -- the country’s smallest municipality.
The facilities in the Lower Austria municipality, inhabited by 91 people, are to generate clean energy sufficient for 9,300 households.
During 2012 the company commissioned a total of 35 new wind power plants with a total capacity of 100.8 MW. Those can produce electricity for 58,000 households.
According to the announcement, the trend for wind energy expansion in Austria is increasingly directed towards larger and more powerful facilities. This is to make it possible to generate more electricity at one site with fewer facilities and use that electricity with maximum efficiency.
