Elektro Ljubljana banks EUR-50m EIB loan for grid expansion, upgrade
Sep 02, 2024 15:52 CESTAustrian electric utility Energie AG Oberosterreich has acquired a 29.4% stake in Slovenia-based wind and solar developer AAE Gamit amid plans to deliver over 180 MW of projects in the country, mostly wind.
With this move, the Linz-headquartered utility has joined existing shareholders WIG Wietersdorfer Holding GmbH, Alpen-Adria Energie GmbH, GAMIT Trgovina and Okoenergie Group.
The target portfolio consists of projects to be executed at eight locations in the Primorska region of southern Slovenia through a shared investment mechanism between the partners. Around 140 MW of the capacity will come from wind turbines, while 42 MW will be from solar panels.
Once commissioned, the 180-MW portfolio will generate around 360 GWh of electricity annually, or enough to supply over 100,000 homes. The first photovoltaic (PV) park is planned to go live this year, while the first wind farm will be energised by 2026.
Energie’s investment supports its goal of producing 1 TWh of electricity from wind and solar per year by 2035.
