Canadian fund manager Axium Infrastructure Inc said on Monday it has acquired a 84-MW portfolio of solar power plants in the US and Canada from California-based Renewable Energy Trust Capital Inc.

The portfolio consists of a total of eight photovoltaic (PV) parks, two of which are located in California, three in Georgia and three in Ontario. They became operational in the period from 2012 to 2015 and all have long-term, fixed-price contracts with investment grade utilities, Axium said.

This is the firm's solar investment in the US.

The deal means Axium has now invested in about 300 MW of solar facilities across North America and close to USD 800 million (EUR 753m) of its second, open-ended infrastructure fund, said Thierry Vandal, president of Axium Infrastructure US Inc.
