Meyer Burger's CEO and CFO to exit as revamp plan unveiled
Sep 18, 2024 11:49 CESTSwiss renewable energy producer and trader Axpo Holding AG said on Friday that it has installed and put into operation a battery storage facility with a capacity of 2.5 MW in the municipality of Gossau, the largest storage facility in the region.
The battery system was built for municipal utility Stadtwerke Gossau. The facility will help the utility to compensate for fluctuations in demand and power peaks in the distribution grid.
“What was initiated in 2019 with a parliamentary proposal can be seen five years later: An energy storage system that guarantees Gossau's security of supply,” commented Claudia Martin, City Councillor and Head of the Security of Supply Department.
Axpo has been involved in multiple sustainable projects in Switzerland. In April, it and utility Rhiienergie AG opened the country’s largest green hydrogen production plant, a 2.5-MW facility in Graubunden Canton. The company, jointly with utility IWB, also put into operation Switzerland's biggest alpine solar farm with a capacity of 2.2 MW.
