Swiss energy trader and power producer Axpo Holding AG today announced a final investment decision to build the 24.8-MW Lalax wind farm in Finland.

Pre-construction work is set to start later this year, with the project’s four wind turbines to be erected in late summer 2025. The wind farm will use 6.2-MW turbines, which will be provided by Vestas.

Axpo acquired the project rights for the wind farm in October 2023. The facility will be constructed in the municipality of Vora, which is located on the west coast of the country.

The site is close to Axpo's office in Vaasa. "The location of the new wind project is ideal for us. My team will be responsible for overseeing the development, and from Vaasa we can manage the construction at close quarters to ensure it is completed on time,” said Axpo’s head of wind activities in Finland, Joakim Ingves.
